Pietro Perotti, Pier Milanese

2014

The story of factory worker Pietro Perotti, employed at Fiat Mirafiori from 1969 to 1985, who took part in workers’ struggles by handling internal communication within the factory, creating stickers, wall newspapers, slogans and drawings in the bathrooms, and papier-mâché and foam puppets, turning protest marches into a form of “street theatre.” With his camera, Perotti documented situations and labor struggles at Mirafiori starting in 1974. Thanks to this previously unseen material, the film paints a vivid portrait of working-class life inside what was once the largest metalworking factory in Europe.
